Melodifestivalen (Swedish: "Melody Festival") is the Swedish pre-selection for the Eurovision Song Contest. Held over several months each year, the Melodifestivalen (or "MF") is in fact a larger competition than Eurovision itself, but attracts a smaller international following.
Sweden has a proud record at Eurovision, with five victories, having contributed many well-known entries including ABBA's "Waterloo". .
