David Newsum started DJing in 1997 in London and his on air experience consisted of doing Pirate (Illegal) radio from a crack den in Hackney that had drug induced comatose people inside and police batten marks on the door as it was regularly raided by the police. He managed to avoid being locked up in prison and in May 2004 he moved to Dubai to take up residency to DJ at Tangerine.
In September 2004 David was spotted by the radio station Dubai 92 and offered a weekly dance show, ‘Conception’ where for 3 hours David provides a non-stop mix of the latest House and Trance from across the planet, often with guest mixes and interviews from some of the biggest international DJ’s on the planet. After doing his dance show ‘Conception’ for 8 months David was then offered The Late Show on Dubai 92. This was a move for David that was in a different direction to what he had been doing. David now has two personas, one as a daily cheeky commercial radio presenter and the other as an underground club DJ, something not many DJ’s in either field have been able to pull of.

Outside of the Studio

David was then taken on as resident at Dubai’s biggest weekly party “Peppermint” and has played alongside, Armin Van Buuren, Ferry Corsten and the Shapeshifters amongst others. Not content with merely DJing he decided to rejuvenate ‘Conception’, a club night he started in London many years ago. He launched ‘Conception' to a sold out crowd with Judge Jules in December 2005 and since then the night has gone from strength to strength with guest such as Fergie, Tall Paul, Maxi Jazz from Faithless, Eddie Halliwell, Above & Beyond and many more with over 1000 people turning up for each event.

What the future holds…

David’s Radio shows continue to grow from strength to strength and on the club front he has recently played at Turnmills in London alongside Paul Van Dyk and also in Ibiza plus at his own club night ‘Conception’ in Dubai.
David’s club night, ‘Conception’ continues getting better and better and he has just moved the night from ‘The Apartment’ to a bigger venue, the newly refurbished ‘Zinc’ who took the night on instantly.
What the future hold for David…who knows but it should be fun. .
