THERE ARE TWO ARTISTS NAMED LOS CABALLEROS

1) Recording of Andean folkloric music
2) Croatian mariachi band

1) Recording of Andean folkloric music, with traditional instruments such as the zampona (panpipes or pan flute), quena (single flute), roncadora (double flute), bombo (large drum), chajchas (stringed rattles made of goats' nails), ronroco (small guitar), charango (small, stringed, ukelele-like), and others.

This album, by Los Caballeros, has no liner notes. Nothing appears to be readily available on the web about this recording, its musicians, or the music itself, although purchasing the CD is easy enough.

The Andes form the longest mountain range in the world. The Andes mountain range is the highest mountain range outside Asia. It is more than 5,000 miles (8,000 kilometers) long. The Andes go through seven South American countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela. The Andes range has many active volcanoes, including Cotopaxi, one of the highest active volcanoes in the world.

The southern section is rainy and cool, the central Andes are dry. The northern Andes are typically rainy and warm. The climate is known to change drastically. Rainforests exist just miles away from the snow covered peak, Cotopaxi. The mountains have a large effect on the temperatures of nearby areas.

The Andean Pact, also known as the Cartagena Accord, was signed in 1969, and marked the first step towards the Andean Community of Nations (CAN), or Comunidad Andina de Naciones (CAN)that initiates activities as such on August of 1997. CAN is a subregional organization with international legal jurisdiction and is composed by Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Bolivia and the organs and institutions of the Andean Integration System (AIS)
