Some say it's "surf and punk" or "neo country." Some say it's just fast rock and roll with a fake Spanish flavour. No matter the "recipe,"the fact is, Los Pirata is one of the most interesting bands in Brazil's contemporarymusic scene. Los Pirata has played at major festivals and venues all over Brazil, packing and selling out concerts, and delivering explosive live performances every time. The band has also sparked attention for their "hi-tech/ lo-resolution concept videos." Now, Los Pirata is ready to conquer other territories.

"Don't resist. Surrender, you must."

Los Pirata was born in San Pablo after 9/11. In 2003 they released their debutEn Una Onda Neo-Punque,which included stand-out tracks like "Nada," "Paloma," and"No Se," among others. In 2006, after three years spent riding bikes, looking for UFOs and having babies, they were back with La Re-Vuelta,a more polished album with a concept:

"Warning! Perception requires involvement"--borrowed from multimedia artist Antoni Muntadas.

The album features tracks such as "Pancho," "Sur," "Lospi Gospel," "Blackbird" (indeed, a Beatles cover) and a special "wake-up call" for the Brazilian people, "Republica de los Bananas" (didn't work). Plans for thethird CD are in order, while the band's guitar player/ lead singer Paco Garcia has relocated to New York City. Making location matters even more complicated, Los Piratawill start recording in Los Angeles in March. The "spreading-the-word" plan has already begun. .
