There are two bands known by the name "Scientists of Sound"
1. The 1990's lyrically conscious uk hip-hop group (1992-1996).
2. The Canadian electro-looping-madness-duo of Aaron Collier and Craig Mercer (2006-present).

1.Scientists of Sound (a.k.a. SCI-4) consisted of Bam (a.k.a. Bob Eskimo), Aqil (a.k.a. J-Blast, a.k.a. Rylo Steelo), Cherok (a.k.a. Doc Holiday) and Aybee (a.k.a. Strontium God). Between 1992-1996 they released 3 singles, a 2-piece vinyl and a DJ Evil Dee (Black Moon/ Beatminerz) hosted Mixtape. Hailing from Willesden North London, they represented a generation of UK Hip-Hoppers that took the attributes of the diaspora to new heights. They worked with producer Skeff Anslem (A Tribe Called Quest), everyone's favourite UK DJ Shorty Blitz, TY, Fallacy and 4x4 (a.k.a. Mis-Teeq) to name but a few. They are best known for their 1996 "science-fiction Hip-Hop opera" album 1.4.4. Or Bust (The Replenishing).

2. Scientists of Sound is a looping madness duo - all sounds are performed, recorded, and manipulated LIVE.
Dirty electro sounds in an improvisational original format that nobody else is doing... Live looping dance madness – in masks – and lab coats...with synched video and lights... This is the mantra for this Toronto/Halifax based looping madness duo... Play sound – record sound – manipulate sound until it doesnʼt sound like the original sound – and do it all over well crafted original dance tracks and thumpingʼ beats... this is Scientists of Sound.
In the past year SOS have shifted from a side project from Craig Mercer and Aaron Collier, members of the now defunct Jimmy Swift Band, into a bona-fide electro powerhouse on the Canadian music scene... They have performed in most major Canadian markets and have been winning fans coast to coast in the process... They have shared the stage with notable electro artists MSTRKRFT. Kid Koala, Boys Noise, Thunderheist, Skratch Bastid, and more... Their recent tour during which they performed a selection of Daft Punk, Justice, MSTRKRFT, and Deadmau5 tracks in addition to their own thumping originals packed clubs and dance floors across the country. In February this year SOS released their debut e.p. Health and Wellness featuring six all-original tracks that have become favourites in the live shows. Part of their consistent touring schedule included headlining slots at the International Water Carnival mainstage in Liuzhou, China, where they were received so well thousands of fans literally leapt out of their seats to pack the front with a dancing and fist-pumping frenzy. Currently working on a full-length original release, SOS continues to build itʼs fan base by constantly evolving an intense live show, creating quirky and intense visuals for their live video projections and playing outstanding renditions of the finest tracks from the worldʼs most respected producers.

“It was truly nothing other than a privilege to watch the music being performed live. [...] It was chaos.”
~The Dalhousie Gazette

"Scientist of Sound sustained their set as if possessed by electronic deities, the crowd cast as their exorcist, and the resulting noise – purification."
~Ca Va Cool
