Non-In-Universe History:
The Victorian Wizarding Romance Society is a collaborative project about the in-universe history of the Harry Potter books between several wizard rockers, who keep their identities secret in order to keep the "realism" of the project.

In-Universe History:
Hogwarts at the end of the 19th Century was in a precarious state under the leadership of Phineas Nigellus, so a small group of rebels formed a secret society. The identity of the musicians is lost to the ages, but it appears that it was a project between many different students over a period of several years. The group set out in 1895 calling themselves "Students For Furtherment of Social Justice and House Unity Through Musical Endeavour" but that did not stick, for obvious reasons. This remained the official name, but many members tended to call it the "Victorian Wizarding Romance Society" due to the preponderance of terrible love songs in the anonymous lyric donation boxes set up in each Common Room. According to the scraps of log book so far uncovered, the society was finally dissolved in 1900 as all the original members had left Hogwarts and those who remained felt disillusioned by the lack of effect they were having on the school, due to the student body's failure to produce any suitably rousing political anthems.

A myspace has been set up at http://www.myspace.com/victorianwizardingromance - any information regarding the identity of the musicians or the lyricists is greatly appreciated. .
