There are at least five bands called Sweater:

1) A shortly lived band featuring the artist David Ford that eventually evolved into the internationally ignored pop rock band, 'easyworld'.

2) Brooklyn two piece, experimental folk outfit made up of Richard Vagnino and Jacob Kaplan.

3) The more well known is the Indie Pop/Korean Rock band 스웨터 (Sweater). They are from South Korea led by 이아립 (aka.Earip) and 신세철 aka.Mellowyear. Sweater plays modern rock style music, but not plain guitar pop, even combined Synth pop & electronic sound. They released two albums Staccato Green(2002) and Humming Street(2003) (and an earlier EP in 1999). It is also said that they released their “2.5th” album “Songs in Air” which is a compilation of live performances. This year they released their third studio album “Highlights”. Apart from Sweater, the band members released their solo materials. Earip,taking a break from Sweater, released her debut solo EP named “End of Bando (Peninsula)” and “A Campfire Lit By Somebody”. Mellowyear has released his first studio album “Vane”

4) Sweater nace a finales del 2001, influenciados por la escena musical independiente barcelonesa y el pop-rock anglosajón. Su visión creativa se mueve siguiendo esas tendencias, pero deja espacio a la incursión de otros estilos musicales. Esta serie elementos y una cuidadosa elaboración de los textos, aporta al sonido Sweater una rara mezcla de misterio y frescura, de tristeza e ironía y proporciona a sus canciones un algo poco común, pero que las hace, al mismo tiempo, fácilmente reconocibles. Son melodías que acaban formando parte de la banda sonora del imaginario general.
Sweater maneja como elemento común entre sus cinco componentes, la necesidad de comunicarse mediante la música. Respondiendo o reproduciendo directrices artísticas, estéticas y culturales generacionalmente adquiridas, los cuatro barceloneses y el mallorquín, intentan transformar el entorno que les rodea mediante sus melodías y se mueven en él apuntando todos y cada uno de los matices necesarios. No es más que una interpretación conjunta y original de una realidad común. No es menos que el intento de entender qué pasa y cómo pasa y filtrarlo a través del lenguaje musical. Eso es Sweater, el punto de conversión de cinco ideas, de cinco visiones, de cinco organismos en constante movimiento interno.

5) Another band who are known as Sweater are from Palmerston North, New Zealand. They are a three piece that play dark post punk music. They released EPs in 2012 + 2013.
