Dopedrone is a one man project started in 2000. He got his influences from shoegazer, stoner rock, 70's progressive and post-rock. Over the years his music has become more electronic, and can best be described as electronica/shoegazer/doom/noise. Its spacious, heavy and beautiful. He also plays in the post-rock/shoegaze band Yeti Island, and collaboration project with polish artist Naked On My Own. .
Leon Dufficy is primarily known as the guitarist in Sub Pop's dreamy outfit Still Corners and Ecstatic Peace's hippie - Jam outfit Hush Arbors, fronted by Keith Wood ( Chelsea Light Moving). Heavy Eyes is his second outing under the name Winter Drones. It was recorded in an insomniac haze that Dufficy has been living with since childhood. Half awake guitar lines combined with fuzzed-out ambient drift, shoegaze swirl and propulsive pop sensibilities. Incepted in 1998, San Francisco based Irish artist Neil O' Connor began Somadrone as a project to document some home recordings from old tape machines and 4-track recorders. This was released in 1999 as a 10” single limited to 100 copies. The latter years involved playing, recording and touring in Europe and America with Redneck Manifesto, Connect Four Orchestra, Goodtime John and Jape. Instruments such as Vibraphone, Harp, Theremin, Indian Drone Machines and Analogue Synths feature on 2005’s “Fuzzing Away To A Whisper” released Sept 05 on Trust Me I’m a Thief records. Echodrone’s 2015 release, Five, heralds a sea change for the band in many ways.
