Thomas Francis „Tommy“ Dorsey (* 19. November 1905 in Shenandoah, Pa./USA; † 26. November 1956 in Greenwich, Ct./USA) war ein US-amerikanischer Jazz-Musiker (Posaunist und Trompeter). Zusammen mit seinem Bruder Jimmy Dorsey gründete Tommy schon in den Zwanziger Jahren in Shenandoah die "Dorsey's Novelty Six". In New York trennten sich die Wege der Brüder dann zunächst; Tommy Dorsey spielte unter anderem 1927 bis 1928 im Orchester von Paul Whiteman. 1934-1935 leitete er dann zusammen mit seinem Bruder die sehr erfolgreiche "Dorsey Brother Band", in der unter anderem später selbst erfolgreiche Bandleader wie Glenn Miller und Bob Crosby als Musiker tätig waren....

The Dorsey Brothers consisted of a studio group fronted by musicians Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey. They started recording under their name in 1928 with a series of studio recordings for the OKeh label (they had come to New York in the mid-1920s and were among the most sought-after musicians). Always just a studio group, members (during the 1928-1934 period) included nearly all of the great white jazz musicians playing around New York.
