Gavin James ist in London geboren, lebt aber heute, wenn er nicht gerade in Sachen Musik unterwegs ist, auf einem Bauernhof in Wales oder – während eines anderen Teils des Jahres – in der Abgeschiedenheit einer kleinen griechischen Insel. Er studierte klassische Gitarre, fühlte sich jedoch nach Beendigung des Studiums immer stärker zu Folk und Blues hingezogen. Gavin begann zu reisen. Frankie Gavin (born 1956) is an Irish fiddle and flute player, from Corrandulla, County Galway. He is a founding member of the Irish traditional group Dé Dannan. He is known for playing in the fast and virtuosic Galway regional style. Gavin has recorded and played with many of the best traditional musicians of his generation, and he has recorded many side-projects, including work with Elvis Costello, The Rolling Stones, Keith Richards, Yehudi Menuhin, Stéphane Grappelli and Earl Scruggs.
