Obwohl sich die Quarks bereits 1995 in Berlin gründen, gehört das Duo noch nicht zu den bekanntesten Pop-Bands aus der Hauptstadt. Da haben sich schon andere vor ihre Nase gesetzt, die 2raumwohnung zum Beispiel oder auch Paula. An musikalischer Disharmonie oder fehlendem Talent von Jovanka von Willsdorf und Niels Lorenz kann dies kaum liegen. 2002 erschien ihr drittes Album "Trigger Me Happy" sogar beim Medienriesen Sony Music. Zu Beginn ihrer Karriere sind die Quarks jedoch felsenfest in der Indie-Szene verwurzelt. Ihr 1997er Debütalbum "Zuhause" ist so etwas wie der Start von Monika Enterprises, dem empfehlenswerten Label von Gudrun Gut (Ex-Malaria!)....

Quarkspace is an American psychedelic band that has been together since the mid 1980s. They are known for combining improvisational spacerock, electronic experimenation with folk and progressive songwriting. Musically, Quarkspace's influences straddle the American and English psychedelic scenes of the late 60s - namely The Grateful Dead, Buffalo Springfield and Jefferson Airplane from America combined with the more keyboard-oriented Soft Machine and Pink Floyd from the UK. They've always been experimenters with new technology - sometimes channeling more modern influences like Stereolab or The Orb. The first self-titled album was released in 1996 and featured strong compositions, but unfortunately weak-production....
