Neocrust is a sub-genre of the crust punk genre, which rised in the early 19080is through bands like Crass and Discharge. Built on this foundation, in the 1990s other bands came up and influenced the crust punk genre by blending in more modern, hardcore-ish sounds. Brought by bands like Ekkaia, Ictus and Tragedy, the Neocrust-Scene lives on through bands like Momentum, Alpinist, Jungbluth and Human Waste until today.

Similarly to the original crust punk, the neocrust sound is a heavy, rather lo-fi produced, sound that takes strong influence from punk, downbeat and powerviolence. Differeing the neo- from the crust is the clear influence of hardcore and, for bands like Young and in the Way, often also a Black- and Death Metal part.

Lyrically the neocrust equals its ancestor and roots around anti-capitalism, anti-fascism, anarchism, animal-rights and sexism, while almost all of the bands portray a left-wing view of these topics. Other lyrical infulences often are environmentalism, and mysticism. The genre hast mostly dropped the "No Future"-attitude that the early curst punk had. .
