Official Bio
Zamar aka Steve Stoddart's music ministry started when he was nine years old with his younger brother Wayne Stoddart who is also a popular gospel reggae artist. They both ministered songs in schools and churches during their earlier years. Zamar started his recording career with the Jamaican gospel group "Beloved" in 1998. He wrote all eleven tracks on their "River of Life" album and was featured as lead vocalist on three songs. This project was also produced by Zamar and well received by the Caribbean market.

While Zamar was a member of this group he performed at most of the major gospel shows in Jamaica such as Fun in The Sun, Gospel Train, Genesis and Gospel In Motion. Over the years Zamar has shared the stage with the likes of Hezekiah Walker, Papa San, Stichie, DJ Nicholas, Chevelle Franklyn, Toby Mac, Prodigal Son, Change, Trinity 5:7, Carlene Davis and many others.

Since then Zamar has kicked off a promising solo career. His first project as a solo artist, "Reggae Praise" has been getting a tremendous response. From this album, the songs 'Turn It Over Unto God' and 'To Me' are former #1 songs on the Links Fm Roots Reggae Chart in Florida. The title track 'Reggae Praise' has been climbing the charts rapidly since the release of the album and is currently at #12 after three weeks.

His aim is to keep in tune with God's divine inspiration so that he can continuously produce the highest quality gospel reggae possible.

Exclusive Interview with GospelReggae.com
GR: Tell me, how did your name come about? Any obstacles with it--funny mispronunciations, etc...?

Zamar: My name came about as a result of conducting praise and worship at my local church in Jamaica. I then realized that my purpose was to usher people into worship. As a result of this I was called Zamar which means “instrument of praise”.

GR: If you could share the stage with any Christian or secular artist in the world (living or dead) who would it be?

Zamar: Luciano

GR: I know that you have written a whole heap of songs in the past, but what's your favorite one? Now, if that is too hard for you to answer, then tell me this; if you spent 5 minutes with an avid reggae fan and only had enough time to play them one of your songs, which one would you play them?

Zamar: It would have to be my song “To me”.

GR: Read any good books lately?

Zamar: The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren

GR: What's your favorite verse in the Bible and why?

Zamar: Philippians 3 verse 10. I love this verse because it is my heart's desire.

GR: What career goal did you abandon for music?

Zamar: Resort Management

GR: What is the best audience that you have ever played in front of?

Zamar: Ocho Rios, Jamaica

GR: What country would you tour (even if you didn't get paid to perform)?

Zamar: I’d love to go to the continent of Africa

GR: What goes through your mind before you go onstage at the average show?

Zamar: Is my mind at the right state to minister to the hearts of the people?

GR: Do you prefer being in the studio or on the road??

Zamar: On the road

GR: Why do you do music? What is your primary goal?

Zamar: To make my contribution as a gospel reggae artiste in whole effort of bringing the music to the next level.
