Since forming in 1999, Reason 69 had four releases. The first of which, a split with local friends My Dad Joe, included 3 tracks by each band. Reason to Believe were the most atypical of the mid-late 1980's Southern California hardcore bands. Their lyrics were poetic and talked about personally meaningful topics like love and respect for women, and poetry itself, and stood apart from the obtuse LA-NYC scene warfare double-talk, and anthemy finger-pointing songs of the day, they were more influenced by DC bands than by any of their local peers.
