The Alley Cats were a Los Angeles based punk trio, consisting of Randy Stodola (Guitar & Vocals), Dianne Chai (Bass & Vocals) and John McCarty (Drums). Similar in sound to X (they were once described as "X-Lite") they were a regular fixture in the L.A. punk scene from the late 70s to the early 80s. Signed to the Faulty Products distributed Time Coast Records (quite possibly their own label) they released one single and the LP, NIGHTMARE CITY. 1. Punk trio from Los Angeles, consisting of Randy Stodola (vocal & guitar), Dianne Chai (bass & vocals) and John McCarthy (drums). Band regular fixture on L.A. punk stage from the late 70s to early 80s. As The Alley Cats they published two albums: “Nigthmare City” and “Escpae from Planet Earth”. In 1985 Stodola and Chai tried to start again, as The Zarkons. They recorded “Riders in the Long Black Parade” with McCarthy. After that McCarthy was changed by Terry Cooley and with lead vocalist, named Rente as quartet they recorded “Between The Idea & The Reality… Falls The Shadow”....
Alleycat Scratch was an American Glam metal band formed in San Francisco in the year of 1988. The band had never gained popularity or commercial success due to the grunge movement of the 1990s. Their music has been considered highly underrated. The band has only released two albums to date. Their debut album, Deadboys in Trash City has been considered some of the best Sleaze rock of the period, although it never gained commercial success. Alleycat Scratch disbanded in 1994.
