Atreyu est un quintet de metalcore d'Orange County, Californie, formé en 1998. Il est composé du chanteur Alex Varkatzas, des guitaristes Dan Jacobs et Travis Miguel, du bassiste Marc McKnight et du batteur/chanteur Brandon Saller. Le groupe s'appelait "Retribution" à l'origine mais a changé plus tard pour "Atreyu", en référence au personnage portant ce nom dans le film fantastique "L'Histoire Sans Fin", alors qu'ils découvraient qu'un autre groupe utilisait déjà Retribution comme nom.
