Melodi Grand Prix (Nordic) is an international song contest for children aged 8 - 15. Participating countries are Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland.

The Scandinavian competitions started in Denmark with its national De unges melodi grand prixheld in 2000 and 2001. In 2002 it widened to Norway and Sweden and became MGP Nordic, where three finalists from each country competed, for a total of nine entries. In 2007, Finland joined which changed the structure to two entrants per country for a total of eight. Finland entered the 2007 MGP Nordic with a Swedish language song. Swedish is the second official language of Finland spoken by 5% of the population.
The Junior Eurovision Song Contest was created as an expansion to MGP in 2003 to include the rest of Europe. Denmark, Norway and Sweden discontinued MGP Nordic from 2003 to 2005 and instead send their national finalists to theJunior Eurovision Song Contest. In 2006 the Nordic countries pulled out and began holding MGP Nordic competitions again. The rest of Europe continued with the JESC. .
