Independent and different. Black Mask is a collective consisting of 4 members; Maulskull( Producer/MC), Raph(MC), INfluence(Prod,MC,DJ), America Smith(MC). Based out of Denver, they possess great song concepts, articulate/evil production, lyrical ability, and mountain experience to kick your ass.

Black Mask has been collectively producing independent hip hop music and touring since the summer of 2006, when they formed the original Black Mask, consisting of various musicians, rappers and friends, nine of them all together. From the wilderness northwest, they released various free albums and e.p.'s featuring all of their friends and fellow lyricists in the northwest and beyond and collaborated with artists such as Celph Titled, Louis Logic, The Chicharones, Eternia, Tha Alkoholiks, Verble Kent (of The Molemen), Moka Only and many others.....Fast forward to 2013 and you will find Black Mask living in Denver and working hard over the last 6 years to bring you projects like the "Death By Thr33s" series, a six week project which consisted of 19 different E.P.'s, all produced by Maulskull, with over 25 different artists involved in its completion spanning across four states. 2012 was a huge year for Black Mask, with the release of Maulskull's critically acclaimed album, "Us & Them", followed by a month long west coast tour with Louis Logic and Sadistik, as well as Maulskull's production credits on tracks that housed artists like The Chicharones, Verble, Sole, Sapient and others, Black Mask had earned the attention of the powers that be, and secured a performing slot at the "Bring It Back Stage" on Warped Tour for the summer of 2012. By the time tour had started, Black Mask was poised for their next release, "Build Small" by Aklock, which was widely accepted and highly recommended as Black Mask's free download offering during their time on Warped Tour. After performing in 39 states and releasing two full length albums, as well as a compilation of Black Mask tracks produced between 2006 and 2008 titled, "Crow Food", and a full summer of performing and passing out free cd's and building with artists, promoters and music lovers across the nation, Black Mask returned to Denver and welcomed original Black Mask artist, AGFlux back into the family, and began work on the newest Black Mask release, "Scenic Exchange" by AGFlux. Released on 12-12-12, "Scenic Exchange" brought a new benchmark to the BM family and is still branded as one of Black Mask's premier releases of 2012. With features from all of his Black Mask counterparts, as well as a track with the legendary Canadian powerhouse, Snak The Ripper, "Scenic Exchange" raised the bar, as well as highlighted the Black Mask's collective dedication to progression in quality of all their releases.

Currently, Black Mask is hard at work in the studio, completing new albums from the entire BM family and grinding hard in the Mile High city while Maulskull is busy working on an album with Sleep (Strange Famous/Chicharones/Oldominion) due for release in 2013 and also producing tracks along side AGFlux for Colorado legends, Mane Rok, Prime Element and Black Mask members Aklock and Raph. Make sure you check the liner notes on a ton of independent hip hop albums this year, Maulskull and AGFlux are almost sure to pop up...
