The Carapace is the freeform electronic music project of Joshua Colella; the producer behind the industrial hardcore project scrap.edx. The project was created in central Connecticut on Joshua's 30th birthday as a means of expressing perceived reality and a vehicle to imprint human experiences through sound. In addition to utilizing heavily processed and manipulated field recordings as the foundation for the project's sonic landscapes, The Carapace also draws from the learned production techniques of IDM, glitch techno and cinematic post-production without marginalizing listeners into particular genre mindsets. AraPacis was formed in early 2003 with the goal of recreating some of the original aspects of the 70s era's hard rock and progressive music and allying it with 21st century prog, metalcore, doom and gothic metal feels, to make an interesting hybrid.
