The Lobster Quadrille is a nine-piece Southern Gothic rock outfit that combines elements of punk, klezmer, bluegrass, gospel, and more. Their distinctly unique sound is reminiscent of the music of Tom Waits, Jon Spencer, Nick Cave, Dame Darcy, Johnny Cash, and the Handsome Family. The illustrations of Dame Darcy and the written works of Flannery O’Connor provide a deeply influential foundation for the band’s musical and visual appeal. Moscow band J-Lobster was formed in 1993 and pretty soon began doing shows all over the city. Energized and dedicated live presence earned them a dedicated following in the club scene. J-Lobster’s music was a curios blend of indie-rock and funk and heavily relied on syncopated rhythms and off-kilter chord progressions. Close Lobsters were a Scottish indie pop band. According to legend, the band's name was derived from their inability to decide between two prospective names: The Close and The Lobsters. First coming to prominence with the track "Firestation Towers" on the NME's famed C86 compilation, they signed to Fire Records and released their debut single "Going To Heaven To See If It Rains" in October 1986.
