In the two years since it was formed (Mid 2007), Pee Wee Gaskins, a pop-punk group based in Jakarta, has rapidly leapt from the indie scene to the mainstream. With a single full-length album under its belt, the band has been featured in numerous magazines, including Hai, Rolling Stone Indonesia and Trax, as well as appearing on TV shows like O Channel's Demo and MTV Indonesia. The band took its name from Donald ''Pee Wee'' Gaskins, who gained notoriety in 1991 for being the first white man in more than half a century to be executed in the United States...
Gaskin's harmonized melodic vocal style set them apart from many their NWoBHM contemporaries, with their style being a bit more refined than the rough riffing associated with early 80's Brit metal. With the standout opening track "Sweet Dream Maker", and first single "I'm No Fool", the End Of The World debut ranks as the better of the two albums released before falling by the wayside alongside many other bands of the time. Gregory and Gerard have been in bands together since they met at St Andrew’s High School, Kirkcaldy, Fife. Gregory and Michael went to Fife Youth Orchestra together (all the band also have some classical training.) In 2005, an early incarnation of the band released a split seven inch with Errors (currently recording for Mogwai’s Rock Action label), produced by Gavin Thomson (of local band Flying Matchstick Men, who also featured Graeme Ronald, aka Remember Remember).
