There are two bands known as Onward: 1. Onward from Oslo was the first Norwegian straight edge hardcore band to release a record. The band was formed in the summer of 1990. Their 6-song debut 7" EP was released in 1991 on Crucial Response Records. In 1993 they released the full-length "In A Different Place" on the same label. Shortly after the band broke up but reformed in 1995. In 1997 they released their best-selling record, the "These Words Still Pray" 12" EP. Onward split up again in 1999. OTM formed in early 1998 and pretty much made a complete mess out of the Minneapolis punk scene. They grew to be the most kick ass chaos punk band that ever was, and you know it. Period. Their awesomeness is irrefutable fact. OTM disbanded because they couldn’t get laid with those stupid haircuts. No, we broke up cause we had a junkie that tore the band apart and our tours went into the toilet. It’s impossible to get anywhere when you are in the midwest, and believe me we tried as hard and sacrificed as much as band ever has....

Coming up among such North Carolina bands as BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME, BELOVED and HE IS LEGEND gave the members of Onward To Olympas an appreciation for an array of genres. Since their formation in 2008, OTO has meticulously cultivated their sound, blending progressive metal, straight hardcore, and elements of death metal.
