There is more than one artist using this name:

1)Desert was founded in 2002 in one of Israel's industrial and cultural centers, the city of Beer-Sheva. The name Beer-Sheva stands for "Well of the Seven", the roots of the name and the city itself downcome to the pre-biblical era, approximately 4000-3500 b.c.

There, in the heart of ancient culture, the creative union of guitarist Max Shafranski, drummer Den Kovalev, bassist Alexei "Kid" Surpin, Rem Kozlov (guitar) and Anna (female vocals) was born. This was the band's first line-up. However, the most significant thing this line-up has contributed to the band was it's name - "Desert". The name was chosen as the symbol of geographical situation of the band - it was located in the middle of biblical sands where Moses had led his people to the Promised land ages ago.

The band started gigging with it's own material right away. During next several years the band played in various places ranging from small clubs to open air biker festivals, all over the country. Desert tried several directions, which resulted in firing the female singer and the second guitarist. Fortunately, replacement was found soon - singer Alexei Raymar joined the band,as well as a young (age 16 at the time) keyboardist Oleg Aryutkin. The band finally defined their style by bringing raw, powerful baritone vocal and shaped the mix by adding keyboards. This line up worked out really well - the band started playing in better, bigger clubs in Tel Aviv, new songs had a unique, distinguished direction.

Desert recorded their first demo, "The Way to Honor" in November 2004. The release received good responses nation and worldwide. Songs scored some internet rotation and positive reviews by web magazines all over the world.
One of the tracks, "More than my Life", even made it to the top 5 of european Goth Metal Radio's song competition. Greek label 'Secret Port records' made the release available for purchase in the EU.

During the next year two of the original band members left the band - bass player Alexei 'Kid' Surpin was replaced by locally famous thrash metal band "Ground Zero"s leader singer/bassist Vadim Shulman, and drummer Den Kovalev was replaced by Max Balagula.

First live show after the substitute made it clear that Desert advanced to a new level, reviews and fan reaction were beyond expectation, confirming that the band is able to deliver furious heavy metal experience from stage.

It was the right time for a full scale record to come out. Desert recorded new material in Tel Aviv's Mantra studios. Felius, israeli extreme metal star, honored the band by mixing and mastering the record.
"Prophecy of the Madman", Desert's latest release is a maxi-EP featuring sharp and heavy, yet mysterious and melodic power metal.

Right now Desert is constantly keeping itself in top shape to make every show its best ever and give the fans what they're looking for.

In 1997 they launched Glow Records, a label at the forefront of UK produced underground house music, and released the first records by Steve Lawler and Lil Devious. The label received regular support from DJs all over the world and tracks have appeared on compilations such as Ministry of Sound and Renaissance.
