The Detroit Symphony Orchestra (aka DSO) was founded in 1914 in Detroit, Michigan. Its most famous music directors were Paul Paray (1951-1962), Antal Doráti (1977-1981), and Neeme Järvi (1990-2005). An obscure nugget that has been thankfully unearthed and given to the funk Masses, The Detroit Sex Machines are the epitome of underground funk. The group's music was rediscovered in a Michigan area vinyl collection (circa 2000). Soon after, members of the band were found and re-release of the material from this late '60s/early '70s band was issued.
