Tami Lynn (born Gloria Brown, 1942, Gert Town, New Orleans, Louisiana, United States) is an American soul singer. She scored a Top Ten hit on the UK Singles Chart in 1971, with the song, "I'm Gonna Run Away From You". Lynn was discovered by Jerry Wexler in 1965 after hearing her sing at a talent show. Wexler had her record the Bert Berns penned and produced song, "I'm Gonna Run Away From You", for Atco Records, but the song was not released at the time. She then sang backup for musicians such as The Rolling Stones (backing vocalist on Exile...
Tamia Washington-Hill (born May 9, 1975 in Windsor, Ontario) is a Canadian R&B singer. She is noted for her spinto mezzo-soprano, a rangy three octaves, capable of both dark contralto depths and angelic soprano highs. Tamia has released three albums since her discovery by Quincy Jones in 1995, at the age of nineteen: 1998's Tamia, 2000's A Nu Day, and 2004's More. All achieved moderate success on R&B charts and urban radio, but failed to achieve mainstream success. Tamia has since split from her label and has released a new album, Between Friends independently. She also created the Original Soundtrack...
Being reincarnated as the evil union between seminal Lethbridge garage bands Endangered Ape and Myelin Sheaths is not a bad thing. If anything, Paul Lawton and James Leroy’s newest and most accessible collaboration to date is a welcome break from the usual too-serious landscape of the current southern Alberta punk scene. Instead of struggling to the top of the heap imitating any number of buzz worthy garage or hardcore bands, Lawton and Leroy have put a unique spin on surf-music and claimed it for their own. Getting early support from Chicago label HoZac records, with their smash single “Line by...
1. Sebastian "Krabbe" Schweren & André Sorge officially started Contaminant in 2002. André did some silly stuff on pretty outdated equipment, Krabbe [Config.SyS] was kinda pleased (at least André thought so, after Krabbe stopped laughing his panties wet) and showed him to do way better. First songs were created and older material was re-recorded. Hidden behind a thick wall of fog (there is no contaminant without fog!), contaminant presented their songs first time at Stahlklang-Party on 26.10.2002 in the Markthalle Hamburg, Germany. The demo material shortly released after that infamous gig met good response (we still wonder why). In 2005...
Karl Stamitz (May 7, 1745 - November 9, 1801) was a Bohemian composer, violin, viola and viola d'amore virtuoso. He was the most prominent of the second generation of the so-called Mannheim school. Stamitz was born in Mannheim and was first taught music by Johann Stamitz, his father and founder of the Mannheim school. He played in the orchestra at Mannheim from 1762 and in 1770 moved to Paris where he became known as a violinist. He later lived in a number of places, including Prague and London. Stamitz wrote over fifty symphonies and about as many concertos for various...
