Pádraigín released a unique and innovative CD bringing Irish language song into a new and vibrant era with a collection of her own contemporary compositions.

Produced by influential music arranger Steve Cooney and the distinguished Danish composer Palle Mikkelborg, the CD entitled Áilleacht (Beauty), takes its theme from an inspirational love-poem in Dáin do Eimhir by Scots Gaelic poet Sorley Maclean. It includes contributions from a host of other luminaries including Iarla Ó Lionáird, Laoise Kelly, Brian Dunning, Ódhrán Ó Casaide, Helen Davies and Mikkel Nordso.

Rooted in a rich background of classical and ethnic influences, together with traditional and literary song metres, the songs make innovative use of the modern idiom, showing that contemporary thoughts and feelings can find soulful and effective artistic expression in Irish song. The compositions transcend genre and will find appeal among followers of art music, world and contemporary music.

It ranges from the erotic in An Phóg (The Kiss) to scintillating sorrow in Céad Slán a Ghrá (Farewell my Love); from the provoking demand for spiritual freedom in Spiorad Saor (Free Spirit) with its distinct influences of Indian chant music, to the gentle melodic song of blessings Ór agus Síoda (Gold and Silk). Other songs are powerful submissions to love, friendship and beauty as in the title track Áilleacht/Beauty and Cara Caoin (Beloved Friend).

The album includes one collaborative song with contemporary poet Biddy Jenkinson. .
