EvilMarkII and Ellis met in the '90s while performing in separate acts on the London club circuit. In late 2002 they started working together on a tech-house project and over the next year it took shape as Loft 55.
Releases so far include two 12 inch singles "1-800-Gigilo"/"Psychopath" and "Butterfly Lips"/"Porn School" (Modern Electronic Soul Records) that were very well received, and found their way into DJ sets by Terry Francis, Mr C, Robert Sanchez and LTJ Bukem. Tracks also featured on a few compilations, including Fabric 16 (mixed by Eddie Richards), Colin Dale's Advance Dance triple pack and Funk D'Void In The Mix (Cocoon Recordings).
Loft 55 did a few live sets (no DATs!) around London, mainly at their own Honeytrap night at the Brixton Telegraph, where they played host to the likes of Colin Dale, Terry Francis, Mr C, Nils Hess, Aidan Lavelle, Pure Science, Nathan Coles, Eddie Richards, Dave Mothersole and Chris Udoh to name a few.
