The Halifax pop group Shyne Factory was formed in [1992 by Shawn Scott and brothers Mike and Matt Johnson.

From the 1997 bio:

Shyne Factory released their first full length album, "Candy Coated" on No Records on March 25, 1997.

"Shyne Factory consists of members Matt Johnson and Mike Johnson and Shawn Scott, three young guys from Halifax, Nova Scotia, who write powerful, crunchy pop tunes, and have been entertaining the home town crowd since 1992.

The evolution of Shyne Factory was shaped by various milestones including but not limited to: charting on the Sam's Barrington indie chart from the very first release; winning the MT&T "Battle of the Bands" in 1994; putting out release on a label which went outta business shortly there after; showcasing at the 1997 ECMAs in Moncton; and purchasing a van.

Despite having to change the I to Y in Shyne to avoid unfriendly relations with a local car cleaning company, Shyne Factory expects nothing but good things in the new year. They are gonna hit the road, and hopefully be in a club near you this summer."
