ABOUT US

The Fabulaires started in Philadelphia in 1957 harmonizing on the street corners hitting notes to the new sound called, Doo Wop. They entered a local singing contest and won first place. A local radio announcer who was one of the Judges liked their sound and encouraged them to audition with a record label called, East-West, a Philadelphia Company. They recorded for East -West label their first songs:"While Walking" with "No No" on the flip side. The songs were released December 23, 1957, and Billboard wrote: "East-West is out with two newdisks from the grassroots The Fabulaires of Philadelphia have "While Walking," and "No No,". The group was briefly together.

At the same time in 1957 Cambria Heights New York, John Lamberti and four of his friends were singing Doo Wop harmony under the lampposts, on street corners, and at parties. The boys loved that sound and wanted to make a record to impress their friends. They entered a singing contest at a popular dance place called: "The White Brick Inn", on Long Island New York, and WON! That night a Popular Singing Group called The Masters were judging, and their manager liked the boys and offered them a contract and to be their manager. The boys decided not to go with him, but to try their luck at the Brille Building, in New York City, home of record companies.

One day they received their lucky break singing in the halls of the Brille Building. a record company producer heard them and came out of his office and gave them a name of a writer and a music arranger named Michael Perricone, he worked for Chelsea Records and other major record companies. The boys auditioned for him, and he was so impressed with the harmony and performance, he quickly introduced the group to Mr. Wally Zober of Sigma Seven Productions, a publishing company, and Mr. Richie Allen President of Chelsea Records Corporation. They both decided to sign the boys to a contract. They recorded "The Wedding Song", written by Mr, Perricone, and the flip side would be "Lonely Days, Lonely Nights" written by the boys.

Allen and Zober baptized the group "The Fabulaires", since the philadelphia group had previously disbanded. The Fabulaires continued the tradition that was started in Philadelphia and released their hit songs in 1963, the " Wedding Song" with the flip side "Lonely Days Lonely Nights". To promote their record release, they joined the local touring acts and shared the stage with new and popular recording artist like, Johnny Mathis, The Dubs, The Charts, The Earls, Randy & the Rainbows, the Angels, and many others. It was a great experience for them; however, they didn't make any money but they had a good time.

Today, The Fabulaires are a collection of Professional Artists, with one founding member. They are dedicated to perform with great inspiration that nostalgic sound of Doo Wop; harmonizing again with enjoyment and fun those romantic songs of the 50's and 60's. The Fabulaires are mastered over 100 compilation albums including 45's that are being sold world wide. Today the Fabulaires are still performing live at local clubs, events, and concerts, accompanying by a professional band.

The Fabulaires, along with other groups, are trying to keep the sound alive hoping that the Doo Wop enthusiast will support and patronize the venues, special events, and shows performed by original recording artists. The Fabulaires, will take you back to those beautiful days of finger snapping to your favorite songs, and all the fun, and beautiful memories you enjoyed growing up.

Most importantly, lets all keep that great sound alive, DOO WOP, for us and all generations to come. Thank you.
