Zespół wydał do tej pory dwie EPki i dwa albumy. Nazwa zespołu jest zapożyczona od tortury Glasgow Smile, zwanej także jako Chelsea Grin lub Chelsea Smile.
Chelsea Grin zostało założone w mieście Salt Lake w marcu 2007 przez wokalistę Aleksa Koehlera i (byłego) gitarzystę Chrisa Kilbourna.
