The National to amerykański zespół indie rockowy powstały w 1999 r. w Cincinnati, Ohio, obecnie rezydujący w nowojorskim Brooklynie, w którego skład wchodzą wokalista i autor tekstów Matt Berninger, gitarzysta basowy Scott Devendorf, perkusista Bryan Devendorf oraz bliźniacy Aaron Dessner i Bryce Dessner grający na gitarach. Ernesty International was founded by Ernst Tiefenthaler in November 2007 when he recorded a couple of songs in the house where his grandparents had lived and where he had spent many summers as a child.
