Megakronkel began as a duo in 1990 and was located in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Guitarist Robin van Velzen and bassplayer Jan Folmer (both ex-members of Umberto Di Bosso) enjoyed making music that was playfull and had unexpected changes and breaks, accompanied by a drumcomputer. In 1993 their debut album Megakronkel is released by the Dutch label Konkurrel. In 1993 the drumcomputer is replaced by Koos van er Velde.
