They were a mainstay of Much Music’s Power Hour video show and supposedly the next big thing to hit the American metal market. Toxik is a thrash metal group formed in 1985 by Joshua Christian and Lee Erwin of Peekskill, New York. The band's style was comprised of a complex thrash metal base mixed with progressive influences. By the end of 1992 the band had broken up but not before reshaping what was to be termed "progressive thrash". Toxic Ephex come from Aberdeen in the north of Scotland. They got together in 1979 and made the vinyl debut on the Bullshit Detector compilation LP on Crass records in 1982 with the track Police Brutality. They released their first 7", the classic Fallout Shelter on local Aberdeen record label Green Vomit records in 1986.
