Belkastrelka is a music project of Yennu Ariendra and Asa Rahmana.

Belkastrelka is the band based on community background,
who invite everyone to involve; by sharing idea and view
or playing music for the compositions.


Main Theme

Belkastrelka is a project on dream and memory, as we call it ‘music for space voyage’.
The journey is about to wander in an unknown land, strange and hallucinating world,
or just represents the condition or the state of half sleep,
delusive dream, great expectation, amnesia and lost of identity.
It’s like the imagination about someone who walk in the lane, believe that beyond those hills
he will find the thing that he always dream of, but actually never get there.
Our past has planted hopes; the bright future.
The expectation grows stronger and bring desperation as the dream keep the distance.
In some point of time, the dream is being forgotten, but the chase still go on.
Then the dream has become illusion.
Belkastrelka is a pursuit of illusion through the numbers of failure and disappointment.


Music Tendencies

Basically our music is pop. Based on the main theme,
the elements of pop which we use are those that related with memory.
As we call it ‘space voyage’, then the music arranged like
a voyage of dream with the element of ambient as the base of the song,
where upon of it, appears the scraps of memories,
memorable tune and sound from the daily life, such as:
cellular ringtones, computer keyboard,
glitch from corrupted sound file, 8 bit sound and many more.

And like memory, the music represented as the recalled process of memory in our mind.
The memory fragment gathered together like a puzzle.
Sometime some pieces being lost, it makes the puzzle uncompleted.
The music is behave that way,
sometime it like a combination of several compositions together or
sometime the composition lost some element and make it unbalance.

As the musical process,words play and the using of quotation is one of the method to emerge the lyrics.The lyric content is more personal; written like online chatting, short message service, or personal confession.Though the text placed in a dreamy and surreal way. Belkastrelka tries to finda new form of realism in its lyrics.

The music is a blend of some memory elements; fable, childhood memory, children play, the place, the people, the name, secret place, the wound, the traumatic event, or even collective memory and forgetten things. The music is gathered, mixed and produced by the computer through the sampling processand the sound manipulating experiment.
