Tiểu Sử:

Elvis Phương quê quán ở xã Sơn An, huyện Hương Sơn, tỉnh Hà Tĩnh, đi học trường Tây tại Sài Gòn. Ông khởi nghiệp chuyên hát ca khúc nước ngoài, mê vua nhạc rock Elvis Presley chính vì vậy Phạm Ngọc Phương đã đổi tên mình thành Elvis Phương.

Ông biểu diễn trước công chúng lần đầu vào năm 1962 tại trường dòng Regina Pacis. Bài hát tiếng Việt đầu tiên Elvis Phương biểu diễn là Nửa đêm ngoài phố. Ông tham gia nhiều ban nhạc như Rockin' Stars, Les Vampires... Là một trong những tay khuấy động phong trào nhạc trẻ đầu tiên của Sài Gòn trong ban nhạc Phượng Hoàng lúc ấy còn có Nguyễn Trung Cang, Lê Hựu Hà..., sau này trở thành một ca sĩ có thể hát nhiều thể loại từ rock, pop, trữ tình cho đến ca khúc trữ tình quê hương.

Elvis Phương thu âm rất nhiều các bài hát nổi tiếng, gắn liền với tên tuổi của ông phải kể đến: Vết thù trên lưng ngựa hoang (Phạm Duy), Đàn bà (Song Ngọc), Mười năm tình cũ, Mười năm yêu em (Trầm Tử Thiêng), Áo anh sứt chỉ đường tà (Phạm Duy), Bài thánh ca buồn (Nguyễn Vũ), Xé thư tình (Trương Hoàng Xuân), Cô hàng cà phê (Canh Thân), Trả lại em yêu (Phạm Duy) và tất nhiên là các ca khúc Phượng Hoàng. Các bản nhạc trữ tình của Nguyễn Trung Cang, Lêu Hựu Hà như: Còn yêu em mãi, Yêu em, Tôi muốn... Elvis Phương thường xuyên trình bày các tác phẩm của Nguyễn Ánh 9: Không, Cô đơn, Buồn ơi chào mi, Tình khúc chiều mưa; Vũ Thành An: Bài không tên số 5, Bài không tên cuối cùng; Trịnh Công Sơn: Chiều một mình qua phố; Lam Phương: Duyên kiếp (tên 1 album của ông), Cỏ úa; Nguyễn Văn Tý: Dư âm; Ngô Thụy Miên: Áo lụa Hà Đông, Paris có gì lạ không em...

Ông còn nổi tiếng với tài huýt sáo (Vết thù trên lưng ngựa hoang)

Ông có nhiều kết hợp với các ca sĩ nữ trên sân khấu, đặc sắc nhất gồm Ái Vân (cả nhạc trẻ và nhạc cảnh quê hương),Thanh Lan (các ca khúc ngoại quốc).

Cuộc sống cá nhân:

Elvis Phương kết hôn 2 lần. Vợ đầu quê ở Đà Lạt, mất trong tai nạn giao thông năm 1970. Nhiều năm sau, sau khi định cư ở Hoa Kỳ, ông kết hôn với người vợ hiện tại Phan Lệ Hoa.

Elvis Phương là anh trai của ca sĩ hải ngoại nổi tiếng Kiều Nga.

Elvis Phương định cư tại nước ngoài từ năm 1975, lúc đầu ở Pháp, sau đó ở Hoa Kỳ. Sau khi mổ tim vào năm 1998 Phương cùng vợ về lại Việt Nam dọn về quê vợ tại Nha Trang. Hiện thời thì ông cư trú tại quận 2, thành phố Hồ Chí Minh.

Elvis Phương, real name Phạm Ngọc Phương (born Thủ Dầu Một 1945) is a Vietnamese popular singer. To the Vietnamese-American community, and to many other Vietnamese all over the world, he is our own male superstar of the Vietnamese music industry.

Loved music since he was 6 years of age, Elvis learned to sing by listening to the records or tapes of foreign singers, especially Elvis Presley. When he was 17 or 18 years old, against his father wishes, Elvis Phuong chose to stay in Viet Nam to pursue a career in singing instead of going to France for an education. Elvis Phuong, whose real name is Pham Ngoc Phuong selected his stage name after his idol, Elvis Presley.

His first appearance in front of an audience was in 1962 at Regina Pacis high school's open house where he sang Nua dem ngoai pho and O' Cangaceiro. The first band that he worked with was the Rockin' Stars, a popular band during the early 60s. In subsequent years, he also collaborated with other famous bands such as Les Vampires and Phuong Hoang. In 1968, Mr Ngoc Chanh of Shotguns Productions produced Elvis Phuong's first album titled Shotguns 26: Tieng Hat Elvis Phuong. In 1977, Elvis Phuong's musical journey took him by storm with the first album produced overseas titled Hat Cho Nguoi Vuot Bien. Since then, Elvis Phuong has recorded many tapes and/or CDs and appeared in many videos.

Elvis Phuong is a strong and surprisingly versatile singer. He covers a wide range of styles such as Rock n' Roll, Pop, Folk, Pre-War, Post-War, Ballad etc. His name is associated with hits such as Vet Thu Tren Lung Ngua Hoang, Ao Em Sut Chi Duong Ta, Dan Ba, Dem Nho Ve SaiGon etc.

As described in a press release, his latest work Ta On Doi - Ta On Nguoi was made in Viet Nam to portray his 35 years career as a singer. His diversified talent is manifested on this video, a collection of gems that were displayed through the lyrical and musical terrain of Rock'n'Roll (Blue Suede Shoes), Folks (Tat Nuoc Dau Dinh, Qua Cau Gio Bay), and Romantic Ballads - in Vietnamese, English and French (Thuong Nhau Ngay Mua, Giot Nang Ben Them, Unchained Melody, Aline, Ma Vie etc.). All of the songs were skillfully mixed by either Manh Trinh or Billy Shane or Chi Tai or Bill Kilpatrick except for one, "Yeu Nguoi Va Yeu Doi." Here, the listeners witness Elvis Phuong's talent, and without any high tech or fancy mixing, just his powerful and filled with emotion tone of voice, accompanied by the guitar of Le Huu Ha.

Elvis Phuong, says, "I chose the name of the video Ta On Doi - Ta On Nguoi to show my appreciation of what I have today. I would not be where I am today without the love and support of my colleagues and my fans." Elvis Phuong, his wife, Phan Le Hoa and the crew from Kim Loi Productions, traveled throughout the North, Central and South Viet Nam to locate the appropriate scenes for this video.

Elvis Phuong and his wife, Phan Le Hoa, established their own company, EP Productions in Cerritos, Southern California.
