Laal is a musical band from Pakistan known for singing socialist political songs. The band's name "LAAL" means "RED" in Urdu and it symbolizes the band's communist message.

Most of their lyrics are from poetry written by leftist Urdu poets such as Faiz Ahmed Faiz, Habib Jalib and Ahmed Faraz.

In just one year the band has gained recognition allover Pakistan.
The band started recieving mainstream attention during the Lawyers' Movement (2007). During which they were in support of reinstating the then deposed Chief Justice.

The band put to music one of the poems written by leading lawyer Aitezaz Ahsan during the movement, "Kal, Aaj, Aur Kal".

Another famous poem the band has but music to is ' Dastoor' by renowned Urdu Poet Habib Jalib.

Jalib was a left wing activist and a staunch democrat who opposed martial law, authoritarianism and state oppression.
A theme which is evident in many of his poems. Dastoor, which means 'system', was penned in 1962 in answer to the manipulated intentions of the then military government.
