Музыкант Рик Браун родился в Эллентауне, штат Пенсильвания. Обучался в музыкальной школе "Eastman School of Music". В то время сформировал группу "Auracle", которая в конце семидесятых выпустила два альбома, спродюсированных Тео Масеро (Teo Macero). В начале восьмидесятых Рик Браун начинает писать музыку для кино, а так же проявляет себя в качестве поэта-песенника. Рик Браун являлся соавтором хита "Here With Me", группы "Speedwagon", который попал в лучшую двадцатку, а так же играл на трубе в телевизионном шоу "Night Caller".
В 1992 году Рик Браун заключает контракт с калифорнийским лэйблом "Mesa/Bluemoon" и принимает участие в гастрольном туре Sade.
