"donk" itself is a pipe noise, used as a bassline, it first became popular when european artists "the klubbheads" used it as a bassline for there hi-nrg dance tracks back in the late 90's early 2000, since then it has spread across europe its also known as bouncy/scouse house in the uk (this style is about 145-150bpm and has alot more vocal) the spanish have there own faster pace variations known as poky & bumping (anything from 150-160, no vocals only samples, more squeeks, stabs etc) the russians have there own style of donk known as hardbass, in russia they stick alot of reverb and delay on it and its used as more of a synth than a bassline, with darker samples and more hardhouse style noises, the main artists nowadays are probably Alex k (aus), Bad behaviour, Hypasonic (uk), Dj Bar@Bass, Dj Tourist (russia), Headhornys, Dj Dbc (Spain) The Soundmakers, Dj Bilout (France) hope that helps .
