1) Beloved (US): Beloved was an American post-hardcore band from Greensboro and Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Beloved recorded and released their debut EP, The Running (on the now defunct Vindicated Records), when they were only in their teens (Josh was only 16 at the time of recording). They caught the attention of Solid State Records and shifted their sound towards melodic hardcore while retaining the emo influences of their youth. In 2003 they released their debut full-length, Failure On. In 2004, drummer Joe Musten got married, and determined that it would not be possible to continue to tour with the band....

Originally a quartet whose sound drew inspiration from psychedelia, the Beloved found its greatest success as a rave-influenced dance-pop duo. Throughout its fluid existence, the guiding force behind the group remained vocalist Jon Marsh, who formed the band Journey Through in Cambridge, UK with Steve Waddington and Tim Havard; with the addition of Guy Gausden (November 1984), the group renamed itself the Beloved, and gradually evolved into a moody dance outfit not dissimilar to New Order. Forming in 1963 as The Intruders and later known as The Quinstrells they became known as The Dearly Beloved in late '65 and were Tucson's most popular '60s band. Shortly after their name change Dan Gates, a DJ from a local radio station KTKT came along with the tape of a song called Peep Peep Pop Pop. The group were not at all keen at first but eventually he persuaded them to record it at the Audio Sound Recorders Studio in Phoenix and a record deal was negotiated with the New Mexico-based Boyd label.
