Buttersonic is the solo project of Shahaf Efrat from israel. Shahaf was always attracted to trance music since a really young age. In the age of 14 Shahaf started to attend trance parties and since 2003 he has been spinning the decks in Israel's beautiful nature. In 2005 Shahaf joined Dj D.Vision (Utopia Records) in order to create "Freedom Fighters" a project that specializes in European Full On Trance. In 2006, Shahaf decided to take the bpm a bit down, and kick the groove up when he decided to fulfill his true passion by creating his own progressive side project...

During the height of 80's Ska revival, The Swinging Cats were signed, for a short period, to the 2 Tone label. The line-up changed constantly over the short period the band was in existence (pratically on a weekly basis). For a while there was also a girl on backing vocals, Val, who was going out with Jerry Dammers of The Specials at one point. The Swinging Cats were a Coventry based Ska band, formed at the end of 1979 and after replacing Holly and the Italians on The Selecter's March 1980 tour, 2 Tone offered them a one off single...

In 1980 John Barrow and Gaz Birtles founded The Swinging Laurels. Gaz had been previously fronting a Ska/Rock band in Leicester, United Kingdom, The Newmatics, where John would make regular guest appearances on sax. It was during this period that Gaz and John decided to experiment with an old Elka organ Drum machine and a Roland SH1 Mono synth. John went out and bought an AKAI 1/4" 2-track Reel to Reel tape recorder and they experimented with writing and recording sax and synth tracks.
