Botany Boys is a group from Cloverland, a neighborhood located on the southside of Houston, TX. The group first started in 1996 when they released their debut LP, Smokin 'N Leanin. The members are C-Note, D-Red, Will Lean, Head, D-E-Z, Pap Pap and the Botany B.G.s which consists of Lil' 3rd and B.G. Gator. .

There are at least two bands with the name Botany Bay. The first: Botany Bay's music constitues a mix of world music, electronica and alternative pop and rock, augmented with classical arrangements, jazz-influenced experiments and often interspersed with a melancholic mood. Botany Bay was formed in 1996 by Stephan Kleinert, then member and producer of the experimental rock/pop collective Ubik Paint. From 2006 to 2009, Botany Bay consisted mainly of Stephan Kleinert (instruments, programming) and Laura Dietrich (lead vocals, keyboards), aided by an ever-changing cast of guest musicians. BOTANY is the catch-all title for the musical quests of Spencer Stephenson, a young Texas musician who calls “somewhere between Denton and Austin” his home. Hearing echoes from both coasts, all times, and everywhere in between, Spencer draws upon many a genre but settles in none. BOTANY in its present form could be described as a kind of Naturalist’s gospel in the form of beat-music— rhythmic hymns that pulse and drone in praise of leaf veins and jellyfish ‘branes, and in celebration of existing involuntarily amongst the colorful mess.
