“I was raised in the middle of a small town, in a Jesus-comes-first kind of house.” The opening line from a song on his debut album, sums up 23 year old David Adam Byrnes. And the title of the album, “Premium Country”, pretty well summarizes what you get with every one of its 14. Byrnes is the youngest and newest country singer to come out of Arkansas. He is set to follow in the footsteps of Arkansas country stars (and influences) like Johnny Cash, Glen Campbell, Colin Raye, Tracy Lawrence, Joe Nichols, and Justin Moore. There is a lot of...
Bobby Byrne (October 10, 1918 - November 25, 2006) was an American jazz trombonist and orchestra leader. Byrne was born in Pleasant Corners, Ohio, and began his career when he was hired by the Dorsey Brothers in 1934 at only 16 years of age. He had his own orchestra from 1939 to 1942. After 1945 he began freelancing in New York. He founded a new orchestra in 1946. He worked often on television, leading a dixieland combo on Steve Allen's program from 1952 to 1954, and performing on the shows of Milton Berle, Perry Como, and Patti Page. He also...
Maria Byrne is an Irish singer-songwriter, originally from Cork and based for the last few years in London. She has turned her hand to a range of occupations over the years including welding hairline cracks in Rolls Royce Jet Engines. Discovering that she was much happier singing and writing songs, she taught herself to play guitar and took off to London in search of opportunity and a decent cup of tea. Maria’s uniquely phrased lyrics are based on arguments overheard on buses, intuitive slants on affairs of the heart and she even dares to bravely spin the lyric 'all you...
Ciaran Byrne (real name: Ross Adey) is an Irish producer who started off as many aspiring bleep warriors do, constructing scruffy appregiated synth runs over drum parts that are so heavily crowded that the sequencer starts to smoke. But since then a lot has changed. After sending a two track demo to Psychonavigation records in 2004, Dublin’s small, but conscientious underground sat up and took notice. Influenced heavily by artists such as Arovane and Tape loop chieftans Boards Of Canada, Ciaran blends absorbing, celestial melodies with unyielding drum patterns and basslines to induce an effect that is best described as...
