There are at least two bands sharing the name Owls: 1) Two decades ago Tim Kinsella, Mike Kinsella, Victor Villarreal, and Sam Zurick formed Cap'n Jazz as teenagers and 13 years ago they followed up that band with their debut self-titled album under the name Owls. Andy Herod is currently in the studio recording with his new project, Electric Owls. The as-yet-untitled album is due for release later this year on Vagrant. The singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist is currently making Asheville, NC his home while recording at the famed Echo Mountain recording studio while The Comas remain on hiatus. The Crow Quill Night Owls are a band that plays jug band, jazz, and string band music of the 1920's and 1930's.
