In their own words, The Barons of Tang describe themselves as "gypsy deathcore." Hailing from Melbourne, Australia, they take the best from gypsy, and add a slightly heavier edge to it. Vocals are kept to a minimum, allowing the raw energy of the instruments to pull the listener into a crazy trance fuelled by catchy beats and hanging on delicious melodies. .

Many bands have used the name The Barons (at least 12 groups from The USA). Among them: The Barons (misspelled The Barrons on a couple of singles), a New Orleans-based vocal group that recorded a series of funk and sweet soul 45s during the 60s and 70s. The group worked extensively with producer Wardell Quezerque and songwriter Joe Broussard. The group formed in the Desire projects in the mid-1960s. Founding members were James Youngblood, brothers Albert and Alvin Savoy and Lloyd Shepard. Later members included Ronnie Robertson, Clemen Smith and Carl Matthews.
