Born in Kasaye village – Nyakach, near the lakeside city of Kisumu, Kenya, Suzanna Owiyo was introduced to music at a tender age by her grandfather who was a prolific Nyatiti player. As she grew up, it was her privilege to watch him play to elated audiences not knowing that one-day music would be her calling in life. In high school, her talent enabled her school to win many trophies during the provincial and national music festivals. After high school in 1998, she joined a Nairobi based singer Sally Oyugi as a back up vocalist. Two years later she parted...
Austin native Suzanna Choffel gave the songs on her new album, STEADY EYE SHAKY BOW, time to mature and build character, like fine wine, before she stepped into the studio to record. After some searching Dieter found a drummer (Dominick) and a lead guitarist (Steve) to re-record these 3 songs, plus 2 more, but this time in a studio. Steve unfortunatly only practised a few times with band due to a lack of time, so Dieter looked...
Suzannah (Suzie) Johannes grew up in a Kansas farm town called Hiawatha and came to Lawrence for the Industrial Design Program at Kansas University. Making the rounds of the Lawrence music scene, she would pick up the guitar on occasion and mesmerize everyone with Leonard Cohen and Rolling Stones covers. Last Fall she won the "Farmer's Ball", the famous battle-of-the-bands put on by the radio station KJHK. With her winnings, she hit the studio for a few snowy sessions over the Winter, recording a mix of originals, covers and a four-song collaboration with her friend Hanz Bronz that marks her...
