German band that set themselves apart for being diverse and transcending a number of musical styles in more than a decade of existence. Early sound was krautrock, which led to symphonic, and to space rock toward the break-up of the original lineup around 1973. The Extra Glenns are a band made up of Franklin Bruno of Nothing Painted Blue and John Darnielle of The Mountain Goats. They were something of an underground legend in the 90's, recording tracks for singles and some compilations. Both artists however started concentrating on their own solo work, though as their popularity grew they continued to work together when possible. A show at the 2000 San Francisco Noise Pop Festival found an unexpected crowd in attendance with exceeding interest with fans coming from as far away as New York just for the Extra Glenns. Many moons ago, way down in darkest Hampshire, there was once a band called The Lens. With their spacy, melodic and mainly instrumental music, they were hardly the darlings of the late 1970's music press which were championing the cause of punk rock and the New Wave at the time, but that didn't bother The Lens. Aldous Byron Valensia Clarkson (April 13, 1971) is a Dutch singer. Influenced by Kate Bush, Queen and Duran Duran, Valensia's self-titled first album contained the hit single "Gaia".
