Skillet is an American rock band formed in Memphis, Tennessee, consisting of all Christian members. Skillet formed in 1996 with two members: John Cooper, former vocalist for Tennessee progressive rock band Seraph, and Ken Steorts, former guitarist for Urgent Cry. The two bands met through touring together, but those bands disbanded soon after, so John and Ken's pastor encouraged them to form their own band as a side-project. Syrup16g is a rock band from Tokyo, Japan, formed in 1993, known for their sound style and depressing lyrics. Syrup16g formed when Igarashi and drummer Nakahata Daiki met at vocational school in Sendai and decided to form a band. Shortly after, bassist Satou Motoaki and a short-lived vocalist joined the band. In 1996, the vocalist left and guitarist Igarashi (who had written the songs all along) took over vocal duties.
