Vinny is a brazillian pop singer and composer. After having participated in some minor bands, Vinny recorded his first solo album in 1995 (Vinny, Indie Records), which wasn't successful. His second album, Todo Mundo (1997), had better luck, with the national hit "Heloísa, Mexe a Cadeira". His third album, Na Gandaia (1998), featured the popular "Shake Boom" He also had a hit with "Te Encontrar de Novo" In 2001 he participated in the Rock in Rio III Festival. There is also a Dutch hip-hop act under the same name. .
Vinny Miller's debut 'On The Block' (4AD/Beggars) dropped in May 2004 making less of a splash, more of a small 'plop'. Two singles, ('Pigpen' and 'Breaking Out Of Your Arms'), two Breezeblock Bombs, a tour of the US with 4AD labelmates The Mountain Goats and a slew of webzine support weren't enough to save this astonishing little acorn from it's own obscurity. Vinny has come a long way from playing at school functions in Pretoria: today he holds the reputation as one of South Africa's leading house masters. His friendship with DJ Christos has seen them release three albums under the DJ's @ Work collaboration to date, and his African-ism series under the House Afrika Records label (of which he is co-owner) has dominated the deep-house scene, "pioneering a new wave of minimal, bassline-heavy, Afro-flavoured rhythms that have bewitched dance floors". .
