Apaixonada pela cultura e, principalmente, pela música brasileira, Inezita começou a cantar e tocar violão e viola desde pequena, com sete anos. Estudiosa, matriculou-se no conservatório e aprendeu piano. Formou-se em biblioteconomia pela USP, antes de se tornar cantora profissional, em 1953.
