Věra Martinová se jako Věra Šolínová narodila v Opočně (nikoli v Poličce jak se často mylně uvádí). Svoji první kytaru dostala v osmi letech, aby právě v oboru kytara vystudovala brněnskou konzervatoř (abs. 1982). Prvním větším úspěchem na hudební dráze Věry Martinové bylo druhé místo na festivalu Mladá píseň v Jihlavě.
